Hi, I’m Marc Collier and I am a highly experienced corporate transactional lawyer, legal document drafter, and negotiator, with a strong background in M&A, private equity, and sports and entertainment. I approach my career with a growth and development mindset, where I am continuously learning and trying to improve, whether it’s on the job learning or takeaways from every deal or transaction that I work on or reading up on and analyzing cutting edge legal theory or deal or transaction approaches. I bring to bear a well-rounded blend of legal expertise, market knowledge, and commercial strategy instincts or understanding essential for a top-tier legal deal advisor, and I seek to live and demonstrate positivity, integrity, passion, collaboration, caring, accountability, open-mindedness, and transparency, both personally and professionally. I believe a corporate transactional lawyer needs to be more than just a paper pusher with rote knowledge of applicate law. A corporate transactional lawyer does need to possess enough knowledge or understanding of applicable corporate laws and a strong ethical compass to appropriately document and give effect to the terms of business combination, co-investment, and/or commercial transactions, but those are just the bare minimum requirements. I whole-heartedly believe that a corporate transactional lawyer adds the most value in leveraging his, her or their market knowledge and deal experience to help guide clients to make informed, commercially practicable, and financially advantageous deals, while avoiding taking on undue risk or falling into pitfalls or traps that befall so many. Today, I believe a corporate transactional lawyer needs to be a strong strategic partner for his, her or their business client, and every day I strive to be this resource for my clients.Additionally, I am a big believer in taking care of one’s body (in addition to one’s mind). So, as much as possible, I try to get to the nearest gym to weight train, hike and go on long runs. Recently, I even joined a running club. I find that the discipline it takes to consistently show up and train and the stress relief physical activity provides make me even sharper mentally and ultimately a better lawyer, advisor, and person.
