As senior counsel of Paramount Global, Kids & Family, I negotiate development and production agreements, including rights, producer/executive producer, director, writer/writers' room, and actor agreements for features and series in connection with both new and legacy properties for distribution on the Nickelodeon linear channel, Paramount+, and other subscription video on demand services. In this role, I advise client creative and casting executives and production crew on legal, clearance, and logistical issues related to feature and series productions. I also negotiate and draft co-production, licensing distribution, and visual effects vendor agreements. In addition, I liaise with and help to oversee outside legal counsel in connection with legal affairs overflow and local production issues and assist with mentoring business and legal affairs fellows and interns.

Reporting directly to the President of Business & Legal Affairs, I negotiated and drafted production and development agreements, including rights, producer, director, writer, actor, key crew, visual effects, service, and consulting agreements. I also drafted clearance and product placement licenses as well as location, leases, and equipment rental contracts.Throughout my time in this role, I advised production staff and client executives on legal, clearance, and logistical issues related to dozens of high-profile film projects. I also drafted chain of title memoranda and evaluated existing chains of title, advising business affairs regarding rights and obligations in connection with potential sequels and/or remakes of library properties.My other contributions included:* Created and revised contract templates. * Registered screenplays and motion pictures with the U.S. Copyright Office. * Revised copyright and title reports for multiple movie projects. * Mentored and supervised outside counsel, contract administrators, and legal interns.

During this time, I was engaged temporarily via Kelly Law Registry to draft and negotiate development and production agreements, including writer, actor, composer, and consultant contracts. I also managed licenses, internet contracts, and advertising, sales, and service agreements. Additionally, I reviewed and approved scripts, rough cuts, trailers, bonus features, packaging, and sales catalogs for DVD and internet product line.

I was hired in this role to oversee legal agreements and negotiations for below the line production work and advise marketing team on legal issues. I partnered with production staff and independent producers on legal, logistical, and acquisition issues. My work included drafting and negotiating development and production agreements, including writer, actor, line producer, director of photography, editor, production designer, and costume designer contracts. I also reviewed and negotiated location agreements, leases, licenses, equipment rental agreements, visual effects vendor, and post-production facility agreements. During this time, I also reviewed and approved marketing materials, including trailers, TV spots, one-sheets and printed advertisements, and worked with independent producers to facilitate delivery of acquisitions and negative pick-ups for the New Line theatrical division. I also evaluated chain of title and advised regarding rights and obligations in connection with possible sequels and or remakes of library properties.

In this early role, I incorporated and negotiated deal points into licenses and recording agreements. I also drafted form producer agreements, filed complaints and opposition briefs, and researched legal issues and analyzed arguments in litigation pleadings. Additionally, I tracked and analyzed client royalty statements, prepared and filed trademark applications, and compiled ASCAP registration applications.
