Security and Human Rights specialist on The World Bank Inspection Panel

I work with LKL on assessing the risk for security and human rights issues (based on VPSHR) at mining sites and oil & gas operations.

I work with Avanzar’s corporate clients in mining and oil and gas, on a variety of human rights-related themes including the development of human rights compliance assessment tools; the identification and assessment of human rights risks related to resource extraction operations; the development of due diligence and practical solutions for reducing human rights risks; the identification and analysis of gaps in policies and procedures affecting social impact and human rights; the development and implementation of community grievance mechanisms compliant with IFC performance standards; and the development and implementation of human rights training programs based on international human rights instruments, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Right and/or the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights. As an external consultant I work on Equitas' international and regional programs around the world. I deliver the annual International Human Rights Training Program to participants representing national human rights institutions and national and international NGOs from dozens of countries. I also act as coach, resource and support person in regional training programs, and facilitate evaluation and planning meetings. As an external consultant and associate, I redeveloped CAWST’s education program to integrate a rights-based participatory approach. I also contribute to the development of new education programs, and train CAWST staff and clients toward ensuring CAWST’s contribution to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal #6 .

As an educator, trainer, and program developer. I create innovative participatory approaches to education, training, peacebuilding and community engagement, which aim to transform values and behaviour in the target groups. I am a specialist in human rights education, participatory learning, consensus building, and program development. I take projects from the needs assessment phase, through design, development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting. I apply novel participatory approaches in areas such as values assessment, strategic planning, diversity awareness, conflict transformation, consensus building and effective communication among others.
