I'm a passionate advocate for healthcare transparency, dedicated to providing patients with the objective information they need to make informed decisions about their surgical care. My background as a practicing vascular surgeon for 33 years and leader of a multi-specialty group practice instilled in me the importance of prioritizing patient well-being. This experience, combined with my tenures as Chair of Surgery at St. Luke's University Health Network (2003-2016) and Muhlenberg Hospital (1992-2001), revealed a critical issue: a lack of comprehensive tools for employers, health plans, and hospitals to assess surgeon quality and cost, and for patients to objectively choose their surgeons.Driven by this need, I spearheaded the development of SurgeonCheck, a platform designed to empower patients with data-driven insights into surgeon performance. I transitioned my full focus to SurgeonCheck in late 2016, committed to revolutionizing patient choice in surgical care.I hold a B.S. from Indiana University (where I played on the freshman basketball team) and an M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine. I completed my general surgery residency at the University of Southern California and my fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.I currently serve on the advisory council for Bloom, a non-profit organization that offers sanctuary and a continuum of care to heal, empower and employ women survivors of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation in the Lehigh Valley.When I'm not working to improve healthcare transparency, you'll find me golfing, water skiing, biking, cheering on college basketball and lacrosse, or spending time with my family (my wife, 4 daughters, 4 sons-in-law, and 8 grandchildren).
