Last position held (after acquisition by Fidelity National Financial of Lender Processing Services) I was responsible for making underwriting decisions in response to daily inquiries from title operations, agents and customers in connection with the issuance of foreclosure, REO and origination products on a national scale. Analyze risk from current and proposed business processes and provide underwriting opinions to management based on said risk. Prepare and disseminate underwriting bulletins to agents and operations regarding court decisions or other matters impacting the issuance of title products. Provide training to agents, customers and operations personnel regarding the legal issues and environment that serves as the basis for underwriting protocols. Additional responsibilities include managing title insurance claims and outside counsel in litigation matters in multiple jurisdictions, attending court mandated settlement conferences and mediations. Train and mentor junior attorneys regarding appropriate claims handling. Protect company from unnecessary and unreasonable risk. Prior to the eventual spin-off (and the subsequent re-acquisition) of Lender Processing Services, by Fidelity National Financial my responsibilities at Fidelity National Financial included analyzing claims tendered under title insurance products and title and escrow services and making coverage determinations and issuing responses to claimants. Additional responsibilities included managing in-house and outside counsel in litigation matters. Determined causes of claims and disseminated information to avoid exposure to claims through preventive or corrective action.
