See description for the Radiation Safety Officer Below.
Radiation Safety Officer
During the 5 years that I spent at Dixie I acted as the charge technologist and Radiation Safety Officer in their large Independent Health Facility in Vaughan Ontario. Dixie prides itself on providing top-notch cutting edge health care.As charge technologist and Radiation Protection Officer, my duties included administering and maintaining their Nuclear Substance and Radiation Devices CNSC licence while delivering all required nuclear medicine services referred to the clinic. During my tenure at Dixie, I completely updated their existing Radiation Protection protocols and procedures to better reflect the risks and hazards associated at that clinic. I was instrumental in initiating staff Radiation Protection training which allowed for tighter control of radiation dose and helped minimize the collective dose to both staff and patients. While RSO at Dixie I went through three CNSC inspection cycles and had a flawless CNSC inspection history, with no noncompliances noted during any of the inspections.
Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Medisys provided me with the opportunity to become more familiar with the private clinic model for delivering health care to the general public as I had not had experience with this model while training in Atlantic Canada. I was provided the opportunity to work with an experienced team of Nuclear Medicine Technologists to provide nuclear medicine services at five different clinics in the Greater Toronto Areas.
Research Technician
After graduation from University in 1999 I was offered the opportunity to work as a research technician in a busy research Laboratory in the Department of Psychology at Dalhousie University. My primary responsibilities included developing and administering research protocols and ethics review protocols for research subjects. I was actively involved with maintaining the inventory of research subjects, obtaining research data, preparing and analyzing data for scientific publication and maintaining the laboratory on a daily basis to ensure continued cost effective output.
