  Current function & careerGlobal technical director and member of the executive committee of the De Smet Ballestra Oils, Fat and Oleochemicals with operational headquarter in Brussels Belgium. Already in the De Smet Ballestra organization since 25 years in various managerial functions.Started in 1991 as manager R&D in Extraction De Smet Antwerp, then became in 1999 engineering manager of the oil refining department, and later on in 2002 also engineering manager of the oilseed crushing department.Since 2003, he is responsible, as global technical director, for the oils and oilseeds technologies and oleochemical processes developed, designed and built by the De Smet Ballestra group. Still closely involved in new process and product development of various product lines in which De Smet Ballestra is active as a leading global technology supplier and solution provider.EducationEngineering degree in food processing and technology and a PhD in oils and fats crystallization, obtained in 1984 and 1990 respectively at the University of Leuven, Belgium. Author of numerous scientific articles and chapters in oils and oilseeds related books and holder of several patents in oil and oilseed processing technologies.
