Starting initially in primarily a support capacity the change in environment was fascinating. Instead of always providing remote support as a necessity I could now visit users desk-side. This change in role also brought along a much smaller user base to support, being able to personally know every member of staff I’ve supported as well being a part of a much tighter-knit team of incredibly talented and knowledgeable colleagues.

I started working in this position in Durham when it was still provided by Siemens IT Solutions before being taken over by Atos some years later.I begin working on a Service Desk team as part of a contract for Steria on behalf of the BBC. After a period there learning the world of remote first line support I moved on to provide support for the BBC, including a fantastic secondment on to a second line team working changing shifts and weekends.Toward the end of my time at Atos I was among the first involved in the second line support of a new contract for the Department of Health and NHS England. This involved liaising with an offshore first-line support team, training those staff in the use of the Service Desk tool, helping setup support scripts and processes and being on hand to take over support when needed.
