Legatum estate litigation opened its doors on January 20, 2014.Legatum’s (pronounced lē gā tum) practice focus is estate litigation.Marc is a trial lawyer who recognizes that there are many ways to resolve estate litigation disputes and arguments over an inheritance – the best solutions often happen outside of the court room.However, if a dispute does go to court, Marc is an experienced litigator who is well equipped to represent you at all levels of court!

In 2007 Cascade Law Corporation and MacAdams Law Firm teamed up to litigate a complex property dispute. Douglas MacAdams KC and I worked together and after the property dispute was successfully concluded, I was seconded to MacAdams Law Firm for one year. The objective was for me to further hone my litigation skills under Mr. MacAdams’s direction. At MacAdams Law Firm my appreciation for and interest in litigation grew further still. When Cascade Law Corporation’s Ted Strocel Q.C. recognised that I was gravitating towards a litigator’s practice, he agreed to my transferring over to MacAdams Law Firm permanently. At MacAdams Law Firm I deepened my knowledge and familiarity with the litigation process and in particular with negotiating complex and often emotionally charged disputes.I also gained additional litigation experience in the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia as well as in the B.C. Court of Appeal.

Under Ted Strocel Q.C. and Marco Cedrone at Cascade Law Corporation I got my first real taste of court room work or ‘litigation’. At Cascade Law Corporation my practice was divided between solicitor’s work and litigator’s work. My practice areas included family law, general litigation, and wills and estates law. At Cascade Law Corporation I ran my first trials in both the Provincial Court of B.C. and the Supreme Court of B.C. While I enjoyed solicitor’s work, it was at Cascade Law Corporation that my appreciation and interest in advocacy and litigation grew. At Cascade Law Corporation under Mr. Strocel and Mr. Cedrone I began to develop the litigator’s ability to plan and put into action a litigation strategy built around the facts, the law, and client needs.

I very much appreciated Christopher Green at GreenWay Legal Centre providing a brand new lawyer with his first job as legal counsel. At Greenway Legal Centre I gained experience in a variety practice areas with a focus on solicitor’s work including: reviewing and notarizing legal documents, drafting wills, powers of attorney, and reviewing a variety of contracts. At GreenWay Legal Centre I honed the solicitor’s disciplines of careful reading and critical thinking – disciplines vital to the understanding and drafting of legal documents.
