Marc Moens is a medical doctor (Ghent, 1975) and clinical pathologist (Louvain, 1980) and has been practicing since at Imelda Clinic Bonheiden where he was vice-president of the medical council since 2002. He retired at Imelda on november 30th 2017. He has been alternatively president or secretary of the Belgian Professional Union of Specialists in Medical Biopathology since 1988. Since 2016 he was vice-president and actually he is honorary president. He has been Secretary-General of the Association of Belgian Professional Unions of Specialists (VBS-GBS) from 1990 to 2018 and became Honorary Secretary-General on february 3th 2018. He has been President (4 mandates of 3 years) and Vice-Pesident (3 mandates of 3 years) of the Belgian Association of Physicians’ Syndicates (BVAS-ABSyM) from 1998 on. He became Honorary President on May 18th 2019.Since 1990 he has been a member of many organs within the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (RIZIV-INAMI) and the Belgian Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment. He was member (since 1994) and president (from 2003 to 2018) of the accreditation council for medical doctors. From 2003 to 2021 he has been a member of the management board of the Belgian Health Care Knowledge Centre (KCE) and from 2008 to 2020 of the eHealth platform.He is co-founder and actual President of the non-profit association Recip-e, which is developing electronic medical prescription of drugs and services. Starting in 1990 until 2018 he has been writing yearly reports on the medico-political goings on in Belgium, published by VBS-GBS.
