About Marc Muller

I am interested in new approaches to collect, analyze and disseminate water information, and study their implications for the sustainable management of water systems. In my research, I leverage new information technologies, in particular remote sensing, cloud computing and citizen science. My aim is to build tools that are both scientifically rigorous and practically relevant, and to anticipate the impact of that data revolution on the way water resources are managed. .     My doctoral research is focused the potential for small scale multi-use water infrastructure (water supply + irrigation + micro-hydropower) in Nepal. The research involves large scale hydrological modeling based on remote sensing, automated infrastructure design, and the design of a spatial model for water and electricity demand taking into account productive use prospects.I am also a teaching assistant for "Design for sustainable communities", a multi-disciplinary graduate class focused on the design and implementation of adapted technologies in collaboration with partner NGO's and communities in developing countries.
