I’ve worked in venture capital for nearly 20 years but there is always so much more to learn. Currently I am General Counsel for Plug and Play, which operates a corporate innovation platform as well as a venture capital arm with a portfolio of 2,000+ early-stage and growth-stage startup investments—including portfolio companies Guardant Health, Dropbox, Turing, N26, PayPal, ApplyBoard, Rappi, Honey, and many more. We also manage a number of industry-themed funds with LPs ranging from Walmart, Volvo, Kohl’s and many more. I am part of Plug and Play’s investment committee and I direct the due diligence process for all investments. I also manage our portfolio from investment to exit event, whether a merger/acquisition, public securities offering, or sale on the secondary market.The Plug and Play corporate innovation platform includes over 15 vertically themed programs (e.g. Insurtech, Fintech, Mobility, Supply Chain, Retail), with 700 major corporations as paying members, and over 25 locations internationally, including Japan, Germany, France, Abu Dhabi, China, and Brazil. Our corporate members in these programs range from Daimler to Walmart to Aflac. I advise our startups and corporate members on strategic investments, commercial agreements (POC/pilot, full SaaS or license agreement), and acquisitions. My focus areas include fund formation, fund administration, fund compliance, equity investments (Series A/B), convertible security investments (SAFE, convertible note), corporate law, joint ventures, strategic commercial agreements, and international expansion.
