About Marc Berg
My career in academic medicine has been spent in clinical care in a level 1, 36-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, in research, teaching and administration. My research focus has been in resuscitation, specifically defibrillation science and CPR performance at the Sarver Heart Center at the University of Arizona. In teaching I have led the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiac Care Pediatric Subcommittee in producing Guidelines for Pediatric Resuscitation and the PALS and PEARS courses, taken by millions of students worldwide. I also serve as Chief Clinical Advisor for Area9 Group, the world-leading provider of adaptive learning software and innovation. This work has led to groundbreaking simulation and educational software for Medical Assistants, Nurses and EMTs with McGraw Hill Education, participation in the creation of the Knowledge Plus board preparation program for the NEJM, educational programs with Pharma and projects from Saudi Arabia to Tanzania. I’m proud to have earned several teaching awards for medical student and graduate medical education at the University of Arizona and Stanford. Finally, my administration experience has been at in the College of Medicine, where I served as Division Director of Pediatric Critical Care and at the University of Arizona Health Network (UAHN). I was a founding member of the Board of Directors of UAHN; a 1 billion dollar/year enterprise with 6000 employees, a health plan, a physician group of 500 doctors and 2 hospitals before it merged with Banner Health in 2015. In 2017 I accepted a position at Stanford University as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Director of the Revive Initiative for Pediatric Resuscitation Excellence at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.
