My father was told me “a jack of all trades is a master of none.” So a young me figured if I was going to do something I had to try be good at it.I spent the first five years of my career as a young assistant photographer to a master of his craft. I learned the important skills of making client's coffees, collecting the film, setting up lights, loading the cameras, and the most stressful of all, choosing the lunch. After 5 years as my masters apprentice I finally became a decent photographic assistant.With that knowledge and his blessing I ventured into a career in freelance commercial photography shooting magazines, brochures and advertising campaigns. I earned a name for photographing people, products, extreme sports and cars, and the work took me to locations all over the world.After 10 years honing my craft I began wondering what those still pictures would look like if they moved and I tried video camerawork, which led to a parallel career directing and producing broadcast television shows as well as many other forms of film production including advertising and social media campaigns. The photographic and film work has been kind and I've been fortunate to travel on assignments all over the world, often in crazy inhospitable places like Antarctica at the bottom of the world and the famous Eyafekhlyukl volcano in Iceland that brought European aviation to a standstill. I’ve produced and delivered via satellite terminals, media from onboard racing yachts mid Atlantic and within the locks of the Panama Canal. I've been commissioned to tell stories at big events like the Dakar Rally, FIFA World Cup and Le Mans and I’ve travelled round the world on the Clipper Round the World Race and the Volvo Ocean Race. Brands like Red Bull, Williams F1, BAR F1, Volvo, Porsche and BMW amongst many others have commissioned me to shoot their stories and personal highlights have been working with Brad Pitt and the humbling “Madiba”, Nelson Mandela. The sum of this varied experience is @SkatterlingsMediaWorkshop based in the London where we specialise in content creation for broadcast and online film production, photography, animation, design, social media management and communications. In 2023 I co founded Sixteen Degrees South Content Factory to specialise in content creation with a nautical slant. 16DS were appointed as the Clipper Round the Word Race’s production agency for the 2023-24 edition of the race around the world, a project which includes producing a 5 part docuseries.
