This course examines issues in the administration of emergency services organizations. Police, fire, emergency medical services, emergency management, and other types of public safety organizations work to protect the citizens of their communities from harm, oftentimes at great personal risk. Incorrect decisions, mistakes and other forms of human error can result in death or injury, property damage, agency liability, adverse media coverage and harm to citizens and responders. This course examines error management in the emergency services using the model of crew resource management. Topics discussed include organization development, organizational culture, leadership,decision-making and critical incident analysis.

Directs the planning, organizing and execution of NAU Emergency Management and Homeland Security activities, conferring as necessary with County, State, and Federal emergency management agencies and with Arizona University emergency management counterparts.
