Us Drilling Sales Manager
Oversee the rental tool division for the NAM market. Managed a team of salespeople located in each major basin in NAM. Developed a CRM and KPI's to manage results. Commercialized new technology by interacting with the technical team. manufacturing, and customers.
District Sales/Operations Manager
Most recently, we grew our business segment to $25M by implementing sales and operations strategy for drilling tools in Permian basin in order to turn around the region’s +80% revenue drop. This entailed rebuilding the district—developing and managing a 15-member operations and sales group. By championing a new directional drilling segment and engaging with the client base, we identified and capitalized on new opportunities for business.Successes included transforming the sales and operations group into a high-performance team and implementing processes that improved data collection, product performance, and invoicing speed. We also increased pricing 41% with one major product line and doubled our margins in part by developing a database that conclusively demonstrated how products outperformed the competition.
District Manager - Permian Basin
Smith Bits A Schlumberger Company
Field Sales Manager
This was a short assignment within the district. I focused on creating a more structured team with enhanced accountability to core activities that are critical to the success of the district. Main responsibilities included training new hires, supporting field sales, and assisting inventory management.
Product Engineering Manager (Permian Basin)
I was tasked with helping the district develop new products to improve market share. The drill bit product lifecycle is extremely short and requires the ability to quickly act to beat the competition. I interfaced with our Houston group to provide the product needs for development. I oversaw a team of four Field Engineers who each covered separate territories in the Permian. I also guided my team through the company's three year training and development program. With my background in product management for PDC products as well as FEA/CFD experience, I utilized those skills to create a direction for the product development team's analysis. I held quarterly reviews with our Houston Engineering Group to set a path for development of application specific products for the Permian.
District Operations/Sales Manager
In 2014, I was promoted and retained by Schlumberger upon acquisition of Smith Bits, to position the company for market share growth during an industry downturn. Accordingly, we developed and executed growth strategy for our Oil/Gas drill bits division in the Permian Basin. As a result, I managed P&L for the U.S.’s top-producing region with direct accountability for field & executive sales and engineering teams. Most noticeably, we reduced DSO 40% via development of an effective new program. Personally, I also managed one of the area’s largest operators and increased their market share from 9% to 33% to become the district’s #1 customer.
Product Engineering Manager
During this time, I played a key role in helping the district to develop new products to improve market share. This involved identifying needs for nimble development of products with extremely short lifecycle, while overseeing a team of 4 product engineers. My contributions included shifting the overall focus for the Permian application and initiating technical reform that paved the way for district’s future success. As well, we improved products’ performance and design by leading quarterly meetings with several different groups to determine root cause of failures and formulate unconventional solutions.
Product Line/Business Development Manager Sr. (Megadiamond)
In this role, I increased MegaDiamond’s market share of Smith Bits PDC cutters, serving as their liaison to internal customer, Smith Bits. This included identifying and meeting customer needs by traveling throughout North America field locations to develop strong relationships. Highlights included launching the sales of new product into the Chinese market place, sparking $200K in growth in the first 6 months. We also improved product demand forecasts, which cut overall waste by identifying obsolete products and reducing inventory.
