Lead consulting practice focusing on strategy development, conflict resolution, and the application of cultural anthropology to assess/address organizational and geopolitical issues. Selected achievements include:- Conducting a situation analysis and writing a "traveler alert" for "Lonely Planet Guides" regarding the 2016 security situation impacting foreign nationals traveling to the Republic of Mali in West Africa.- Designing & leading strategic planning processes for an international, senior leadership team at Chevron Oil charged with analyzing options regarding a proposed merger with Texaco. Following the merger, worked to integrate & transform business units so they performed maximally in support of new business realities.- Conducting analyses of international competition for the Singer Sewing Machine Company in response to significant market share erosion. Reformulated Singer's marketing, sales, and distribution strategies to restore industry leadership. - Conducting conflict assessments and creating conflict management processes for major international corporations including Exxon-Mobil and Chase Bank. Interfaced with law enforcement entities in circumstances where industrial sabotage was considered a possibility. During downsizings, served as onsite consultant, often operating in highly-charged environments.- Responding to issues presented by the merger of the Chase and Chemical Banks, worked with international leadership groups to develop goals & integrate functions. - Co-facilitating a large-scale (3,000+ participants), collaborative process entitled "Listening to the City," designed to elicit ideas on how to most effectively re-build Lower Manhattan post-09/11/01. Participants, representing a wide range of stakeholders, generated & prioritized significant data to inform political decision making.

- Responding to concerns about policy and performance, designed and conducted an analysis of the Department’s largest counterterrorism program. Wrote report that identified issues in need of attention and recommended specific actions to address these. Later, in response to a mandate from the Secretary of State, led an organizational change and development initiative to improve mission performance.- Provided oversight, analyses, and recommendations concerning the Bureau's four foreign assistance programs. Developed and led new strategic and budget planning initiatives pertaining to foreign assistance and counterterrorism.- Facilitated Bureau's relationships with Capitol Hill. Conducted liaison activities with legislators/staff to ensure their positions were understood and considered, their information requirements met, rapport was built/maintained, and the interests of the Bureau advanced.- Created architecture and original content for the Bureau's first, public-oriented website (http://www.state.gov/j/ct/).

Created an innovative improvisational theater group that pioneered the use of interactive improv techniques designed to improve both organizational and individual effectiveness.In organizations, Creativity...in Action! worked with groups at all levels to expand perspectives and assist in developing creative, efffective, implementable solutions to a wide range of organizatonal challenges. Assignments included:- Facilitating innovative strategy development and strategic planning initiatives, which included operationally effective action plans.- Enhancing the effectiveness of culture-shift initiatives by reducing fear and generating enthusiasm.- Building high-performance teams with the capacity to "play at work."- Instituting highly-interactive, results-driven, public speaking, media interaction, and inter-personal communications programs, which greatly improved internal and external communications.Clients included: CNN, Chase Bank, Penguin Publishing, and various Public School Districts (among others).For individuals, Creativity... in Action! developed an improv-oriented, cutting-edge coaching process to:- Identify issues that impede personal effectiveness.- Address such issues by expanding personal awareness and positively shifting individual self-perceptions.- Promote the ability to magnetically communicate to: lead; pursuade; inspire; resolve conflicts, and accomplish what heretofore seemed impossible.

- Pioneered and led a unique program to resolve complex, multi-party, public policy disputes that brought together government, business, and other stakeholders to negotiate and build solutions.- Examples of activities include mediating a long-standing dispute regarding PCB pollution in New York/New Jersey Coastal waters and designing/facilitating a process to address problems related to solid waste disposal in New York City.- These and other disputes included as many as 114 contentious parties and stakes in the billions of dollars.- Resolution of the solid waste disposal dispute led the NYC government to cancel plans to build six mass-burn incinerator plants, and to develop and implement a comprehensive, city-wide, recycling program.

- Implemented an international business intelligence initiative, built an entirely new European marketing enterprise, and instituted new sourcing operations in Russia and East Asia.

- In response to government concerns regarding corruption in the process by which cable communications contracts were awarded, established the first state agency charged with regulating cable communications.
