I am a PhD candidate being supervised by Prof Richard Day and Dr Eindra Aung within St Vincent’s School of Clinical Medicine, UNSW Sydney. My PhD is focused on uncovering how medication adherence can be improved in people with gout and the role this plays in improving outcomes. As part of my PhD, I work with the data derived from the Gout App (GAPP) Study, a randomised controlled trial aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of use of a mobile self-management app that was designed for people with gout. I have previous experience in quantitative health research and epidemiology and have completed master’s degrees in public health (MPH) and Health Policy (MHPol). My main area of expertise is quantitative analyses of epidemiologic data using SAS, SPSS and Stata statistical software packages. Previously at the Kirby Institute, I took part in the collection, management and analysis of data as part of the LiveRLife project, a community-based model of care integrating a liver health promotion campaign, point-of-care hepatitis C testing and non-invasive liver fibrosis assessment with linkage to care and HCV treatment among people with a history of injection drug use. Previously, in my role as a Research Assistant at St Vincent’s School of Clinical Medicine, I contributed to the successful recruitment of the GAPP Study. My research interests include methods of evaluating the health-related quality of life among marginalized populations such as those with chronic health conditions and people who inject drugs.
