I am a scientific associate working in the field of cancer epidemiology – cancer registration and prevention - for the Cancer League of Eastern Switzerland and their cancer registry and breast mammography screening program “donna”. I am working for several scientific projects on breast cancer screening evaluation including the implementation of Artificial Intelligence, and epidemiological studies on varies cancer sites, including colorectal and lung cancer. I have been a co-author for several published papers on complete cancer prevalence in Europe (Lancet Oncol 2024), survival of European adolescents and young adults (Eur J Cancer 2024), or the improved survival for women attending our breast cancer screening program “donna” (in press). I have deepened my statistical skills on cancer survival in the short course “Cancer Survival” by the renowned London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Attending Scientific Conferences by the ENCR-IACR in Granada, ES, 2023 and the GRELL Meeting in Lausanne, CH, 2024 kept me well informed of the latest advancements in epidemiological cancer research and provided invaluable networking opportunities with leading experts in the field. I am a dedicated and driven individual with a solid academic background in social sciences, complemented by a strong affinity for data analysis and statistical methods. I did my Master at the University of Zurich in political science, where I learned my analytical and data skills and developed a keen interest in understanding complex societal issues through quantitative lenses. My master-thesis was honored with the highest grade and was awarded as the best master-thesis at the Department of Political Science of the University of Zurich - a recognition that reflects my commitment and analytical prowess in scientific work.Proficient in Stata and R, I utilize various data science methods, from data collection and wrangling to analysis and visualization.My dedication to advancing cancer epidemiology is now steering me towards a PhD focused on evaluating cancer screening programs and its effect on cancer prevention. This next academic pursuit aligns perfectly with my career aspirations and my commitment to improving public health outcomes. The upcoming PhD at the University of St.Gallen, School of Medicine, will allow me to delve deeper into the assessment of the effectiveness of a screening program and its improvement, explore new methodologies, and contribute to evidence-based policy-making.
