The UN German Global Compact Network (UN GCD) was launched in 2000, as one of the the first local chapters of the UN Global Compact. It includes more than 1200 business signatories as well as 60 representatives from civil society, academia and the public sector. UN GCD supports local companies in adhering to the Ten Principles (on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption) and promotes business action to advance broader societal goals, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS).Responsibilities include, among others:- Managing the Office/Staff of UN GCD,- Liaising with the UN GCD Board and Foundation- Liaising with the UN Global Compact and Local Networks around the world- Developing the organization's strategy and implementing its business plan- Fundraising and recruiting new members (i.e. subscribers) - Networking with relevant national partners from business, government and civil society- Providing practical support to companies (tools, workshops, coaching)- Facilitating peer learning and exchange of best practice- Organizing multi-stakeholder dialogues- Implementing collaborative initiatives and pilot projects. - Providing advice to the German Ministry of Development Cooperation

The GIZ (German Corporation for International Cooperation) is owned by the German Federal Government and operates in more than 130 countries. It operation in a variety of fields of international cooperation, namely: economic development and employment; government, democracy and poverty reduction; education, health and social security; environment and infrastructure; and agriculture, fisheries and food. GIZ works primarily with states, state agencies, and the private sector.

Issues: sustainable development, corporate social responsibility (CSR); inclusive business; jobs & skills, energy and climate; eco-efficiency; human rights; measurement and reporting.

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) is a CEO-led organization of some 200 progressive blue chip corporations committed to promoting business solutions for a sustainable future.Achievements include:- Developing and implementing the strategy and action plan of WBCSD's new Social Capital Focus- Managing and supervising projects on inclusive business, jobs and skills, business and human rights, rural development, technology enablers for development, and social impact measurement and valuation. - Engaging senior business leaders (including CEOs) in the Steering Committee and workstreams.- Establishing partnerships with relevant external partners from business, governments and civil society. - Defining the socio-economic priorities and targets within WBCSD's Action2020 strategic framework.

Achievements include:- Promoting market-based solutions to social and environmental challenges in emerging economies, including on inclusive business and access to energy.- Drafting thought-leadership pieces and articles on business and development.- Developing business tools, including on socio-economic impact measurement and local content.- Expanding WBCSD's Regional Network to embrace 63 partner organizations around the globe. - Engaging regional partners in pilot projects, capacity building and advocacy activities.- Localizing WBCSD's vision and roadmap for a sustainable future (Vision 2050) in 31 countries.- Providing business input to international processes and summits, including the Rio+20 conference.

Achievements include: - Expanding the Regional Network to 57 countries.- Establishing BCSDs and partner organizations in priority countries, including China and India.- Developing and implementing a strategy to reach out to the BRICS countries.- Implementing pilot projects, stakeholder dialogues and capacity building seminars worldwide.- Contributing to the achievement of WBCSD's strategic objectives as Executive Team member.- Supporting the recruitment of companies from emerging economies.

Achievements include:- Conceptualizing WBCSD's approach of tackling poverty through commercially viable ventures (later coined as "Inclusive Business") to meet basic needs and create sustainable livelihoods. - Organizing with the OECD a ministerial dialogue with CEOs on improving synergies between foreign direct investment and official development assistance. - Conducting high-level panels at key international events, including the UN Financing for Development conference and the Rio+10 Sustainable Development Summit.

Achievements include:- Expanding the the Regional Network from 13 to 27 Business Councils for Sustainable Development (BCSDs) and partner organizations.- Revitalizing the Regional Network as the main conduit for global outreach of WBCSD's initiatives, tools, capacity building and advocacy activities.- Enhancing business perspectives from developing countries in WBCSD's work program.

Activities included:- Monitoring the establishment of the Mexican Cleaner Production Center.- Negotiating technical assistance measures with government and private sector entities.- Assisting in the preparation of the Country Program and the evaluation of projects.- Liaising with government officials on experts, subcontracting firms, fellowships and projects. - Acting as UNIDO representative in Mexico ad-interim for 9 months.
