Drupal development and architecture for two federal government projects: Postal Regulatory Commission: in three month engagement, advised Postal Regulatory Commission and their design firm on content management strategy for an advanced docket system integrating Oracle/.NET with Drupal 7. Created specifications for real-time data sync API. Trained staff on Drupal theming to prepare for launch of new website.Center for Disease Control: in twelve month engagement, managed a team with two other developers to implement the Community Guide, a publishing platform for CDC outreach to community health centers such as gyms, parks and schools. Developed content management strategy using Drupal and Solr, led effort to design complex responsive user interface using Bootstrap and jQuery, launched first version of beta website.

Lead Drupal developer and architect for VCN.org, a US Department of Labor/American Association of Community Colleges initiative to encourage entry-level career planning for in-demand career sectors such as health care, green energy and transportation. Launched original version using Drupal 6 in June 2012, then began migrating site to Drupal 7 and leading the effort to redesign the user experience redesign for an eventual 2.0 release. Responsible for every aspect of site development and maintenance including production system management, performance monitoring and metrics, user experience (for upcoming 2.0 version), theme development, data migration and custom module development.

Working with Dan Levy on behalf of Levity Media, built music websites for Bob Dylan (BobDylan.com), Bruce Springsteen (BruceSpringsteen.net) and Pearl Jam (PearlJam.com). Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen projects included message boards and lyric search engines. Pearl Jam site included extensive and complete multi-dimensional concert/song database representing the band's entire performance history.

Technical lead for two projects to support AETN.com and HistoryChannel.com with a new content management system (based on Interwoven) and a new search engine platform (based on Autonomy).

Taught courses in Oracle, Java, Microsoft .NET (C# and VB) and web development. Previously taught similar courses as freelance for Hendricks Institute, then became employee of New Horizons which acquired Hendricks.

Led technology group for arts organization responsible for ArtAndCulture.com (a community website) and Artadia.org (a non-profit). Other partnerships included development efforts with Whitney Museum in New York City (launched website for Whitney Biennial 2002) and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

As technology director for iVillage's large and highly active online community, managed message boards, chat and other interactive applications. Worked with community leadership on successful launch of iVillage Member Profiles, redesign of message boards using Jive Forums, upgrade of chat application using iChat. Before joining community effort, held position of Director of Systems Operations during the period that included iVillage's IPO in April 1999.

Launched an internal online advertising network (based on NetGravity, now part of DoubleClick) to support Pathfinder, one of the earliest players in web advertising. Managed various development efforts to create accurate traffic reports, analytic metrics, user metrics and ad-effectiveness reports for Pathfinder.com. Developed and launched User Profile Server, an early attempt at cookie-based user-targeting based on pageview analysis. In a later capacity, worked with Time.com to develop a news headline data feed for the Time.com front page using Vignette StoryServer.

Worked for a variety of Sybase costumers in New York City, primarily JP Morgan (Global Markets) as well as AT&T, Citibank, Paine Webber, Reuters and Corning Metpath. Taught Sybase programming courses on site and at AT&T and other customer education centers. Specialized in Open Client/Open Server distributed software architecture for Sybase enterprise applications.

Managed software staff of five responsible for developing several new versions of LPC's primary product, DealScan, an MS-DOS/Windows software interface for an embedded database of major corporate loans. Created and launched a new LPC product, LoanBuyer, and supported development of LPC Matrix, a repository of private bank-loan data, the publication of Gold Sheets, a financial publication, and the execution of several custom projects for LPC customers, primarily American banks.As manager of the software group, also led the transition from a small MS-DOS-based product line and PC-based homegrown technical operation to a Windows-based product line supported by a Unix/Sybase IT platform.
