I love developing solutions from the dust up. It makes me giddy to assemble good thinkers in a room to construct solid systems to support STEM teaching and learning. Creative/brave thinkers + post its and logic models x hard work= outcomes like 176% increase in STEM Associates Degrees for Transfers over three years or 2,000% increase in the amount of time students spend in the STEM Center comparing August 2016 to August 2019.My secret power is the ability to see where change is needed and possible, know what unexpected partners should come together at the table, and bring out the hidden talents of those co-creators. I’m most proud of the projects I had a hand in designing and lifting off the ground that continue to thrive long after I’ve moved on to my next adventure. Public educators tend to grow where they are planted. I’m different. I’ve enjoyed exploring the whole ecosystem. I have worked as a Teacher, Principal, District Director, County Office Director, Chief Education Officer for a statewide STEM Network, consultant for a CSU and a handful of corporations, and now as a STEM Director for a community college. When I’m not at work or thinking about work...I love the fun and struggle of creative efforts that look super simple when done well; like writing and photography.

Director Of Special ProjectsSomis Union School District Jul 2014 - PresentSomis Unified School District is building a new school and shifting the programmatic focus to STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture & Art, Math.We live in a unique time in history. We have witnessed our world change as a result of the technological and innovative advances. Education is in the midst of equally tectonic shifts as a result of new standards and new funding strategies. Often change is precipitated by both push and pull factors. Innovation and opportunity pulls and high-hazard aging gas lines 30 inches under the children’s play yard are pushing us out. It’s time for us to pull out and plant anew. This synchronicity has gifted us a once in a lifetime opportunity to be innovators and design the place (a new school district facility) and program (STEAM) for K-8 students. -
