My work involved advising a range of schools in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire on teaching and learning. As AST in KS5 for Oxfordshire, I helped a number of schools implementing new specifications for A-level and also worked with those wishing to raise achievement at GCSE. I ran a wide range of INSET training for the county, for example on G&T education, 'reaching for the A*s', developing SEAL in schools, Spoken Language at GCSE, A level literature and language, and so on. Worked as part of a team of lexicographers on the third edition of the Oxford English Dictionary project, working online to update etymologies and wider features of entries, specialising in Anglo-Saxon and Middle English derivations. The role involved sorting through the vast corpus of evidence of the dictionary archives, working with online communities across the world to make decisions about,word use and origins, and drawing in a range of new evidence to antedate words..
