Worked for one month at the pediatric emergency department of H.U.V., a large, semipublic medical center affiliated with Universidad del Valle School of Medicine that serves the Valle region, which has a population of over four 4 million. Managed patients with moderate to severe illness coming from among the most impoverished communities in the area. Led case presentations, daily teaching rounds, and clinical procedures. Due to the limited number of inpatient beds, the pediatric emergency room also provided inpatient management for the entire course of hospitalization.

Taught social studies and English literature at a co-educational bilingual school for 6th, 7th and 9th graders.

Respond to emergency/non-emergency situations; responsible for the initial evaluation, treatment and transport of patients with medical problems and/or trauma.
