As CEO and Founder, I am leading the implementation, development and integration of the nation’s first standard of care to treat the condition of poverty. Utilizing uniform protocols and analytics, Transition To Success™ (TTS) directly responds to the social determinates of health with research and data driven practice. TTS, a scalable, sustainable, measurable, multi-generational community based system of care that integrates existing funding streams across human services, healthcare, government and education. In the first year of a Federal Demonstration project TTS independent evaluation cited statistically significant improvement in 14 of 18 social determinants domains, including access to healthcare and income.

As the President and CEO of this accredited, comprehensive human service organization, I was responsible for overall operations for 7 divisions across 50 locations. My responsibilities included executive leadership of management, marketing, board and fund development, research and evaluation. Programming included, but was not limited to, the largest Head Start program in Detroit, MI; residential programs, low income housing, prisoner re-entry, senior, youth and after school programs, HIV/AIDS supportive care, integrated healthcare, prevention programs and community center management.During my tenure the Matrix budget increased from 17 million to 44 million dollars annually. Utilizing TTS, Matrix was awarded the largest expansion of Head Start in Detroit history. This fully funded Federal 5 year project reported statically significant improvements in parents economic self-sufficiency in the first 12 months. This grant brings $120 Million to Detroit over the next 5 years.My work at Matrix has been showcased on the CBS Evening News, Time Magazine, the NY Times, Michigan Public Radio, local media, industry publications and conferences including the 2013 Human Services Summit at Harvard University. I am an Emmy award winning creator and executive producer of “WatRUFightn4?”, a video, website and education program designed to promote volunteerism, tolerance and social activism. “WatRUfightn4?” has been downloaded in 40 countries across 5 continents.

As the President and Chief Executive Officer for BHPI / CARELINK / CONSUMER LINK, I was responsible for the startup and administration of the three healthcare corporations. Managing over 150 million dollars in annual revenues, these corporations maintained contracts with Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency to serve the chronically mentally ill and developmentally disabled populations throughout Detroit and Wayne County.After the first year of operations, the overall cost of care decreased $17.00 PMPM while the denial rate was consistently below 2%. Enrollment based upon consumer choice increased consistently. In addition, over 90% of clean claims were paid within 30 days.

As a member of the BCN leadership team (the 10th largest HMO in the country) I was responsible for the overall administration (including NCQA compliance), monitoring and evaluation for behavioral services. Administration required integration and coordination with all departments across the health plan including finance, claims operations, medical management, contracting, information systems and quality. This position required ongoing involvement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, purchasing, employer groups, civic organizations, unions, other health plans and communities throughout the State of Michigan. Leading this division, the behavioral health network was transitioned to an integrated statewide delivery system.

As a Vice President of this publicly traded, managed care corporation I provided the overall leadership and direction for all regional operations. This included, but was not limited to, marketing, contract negotiations, contract oversight, provider contracting, management information systems, member services, claims, TQM initiatives and NCQA preparation, involvement in local/state political issues, finance and budget. This position required ongoing development and implementation of regional and corporate action plans and strategies. Under my leadership, membership increased over 100% in the Central Region. This is a direct result of development of a diversified product line that included high-risk programs, pharmacy benefit management programs, correctional programs and employee assistance programs.

This included, but was not limited to, developing strategies for negotiation, ongoing management of managed care and other related contracts; working with operations, development, special projects, business, industry and the community to carry out the mission of this position and the corporation; analyzing data and sales trends to provide creative and effective marketing and business strategies. This position reported to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors.

As the administrator I had responsibility for the total management of three outpatient mental health/substance abuse programs. This included the management of; fiscal operations, personnel, clinical care, fund raising, marketing, program development, public relations and reporting to the Board of Directors. Under my direction this corporation increased from 400 hundred to over 2,000 client contact hours per month. While I was administrator the agency received its Joint Commission accreditation, the State of Michigan Gold Seal license, and obtained numerous contracts with managed care and traditional insurance plans.

My duties included; outpatient psychotherapy, development of program policy and procedure, marketing strategies and supervision and consultation with other staff.

I worked in Medical Social Work specializing in psychiatric inpatient treatment, also trained in general hospital policy and procedures. My duties included assessment, psychotherapy, discharge planning, staff training and program development. I was a member of the Mental Health Unit Expansion Committee. I developed a knowledge and understanding of inpatient psychiatric treatment and the critical skills that each discipline provides.
