KAS BV was providing a variety of Point of Sale solutions for a large amount of customers within the retail and hospitality. These solution exists out of fully integrated Point of Sale solution with connections to a variety of equipment involving weighing scales, barcode scanners, touch screens, customer price verifiers and payment terminals. These Point of Sale terminals have software that interacts which include additional features to cater different functionality such as inventory management, CRM, financials and warehousing. 2nd and 3rd line support for larger retail and hospitality customers in the Netherlands and Belgium regarding their network and server infrastructure which is used for maintaining their nationwide deployed retail solutions. To graduate for the ‘Hogeschool van Utrecht - Faculty of Science and Engineering’ you need to make a final thesis which involves determining the scope of the thesis, project management, design, implementation and defending the project and choices made to a committee of teachers, professors and the business who requested this.The thesis I did was making a proof of concept for controlling a robot through any given computer network (ATM, Ethernet, Internet, etc.) for environments where due to circumstances (physical, environmental hazards, health, etc.) it is not possible for a human to work. The thesis involved aspects involving:- Project Management- Design solution based of the requirements provided by the University of Utrecht.- Selecting and assembling all the selected hardware components – Front and Backend.- Designing User interface- Developing/Programming - Front and Backend including interfacing with all hardware components using MC68xxx and ANSI C.

I was assigned with the 1st and 2nd line support for internal customers at the office located in Almere. During that time, I was fortunate to be involved in deployments for larger customers like the Housing Corporation of Amsterdam.
