Most athletes believe that the mind contributes to some extent to their performance on the court, but do not know how to use their thoughts to their advantage. Everyday, athletes go to practice and matches with the same negative beliefs. Common thoughts include but are not limited to "I am a failure", "I am scared to play the next point", or "I can't do this". While their physiological state is in good condition, their psychological state of mind is not up to par.For the last four years, I played collegiate tennis in the United States and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. Throughout my own playing career, I discovered that the mind plays a crucial role in sports. It does not matter which sport, the mind always takes part in exercising even the most simple tasks. As famous long-distance runner Lynn Jennings once put it: "Mental will is a muscle that needs exercise, just like muscles of the body".Therefore, it is a must that every athlete needs to set aside time to practice both their mind and their body. Through that, the list of possible achievements is (1) in reach, (2) attainable, and (3) limitless.
