A distinguished physician and researcher, I am specialized in Mindfulness and Health Promotion, with a profound dedication to Supported Self-Care in Chronic Conditions. As a Free-Lecturer (Associate) Professor at Escola Paulista de Medicina - UNIFESP, I guide and inspire both Master's and Doctoral students in Collective Health, and also mentor Doctoral candidates in the Administration of Organizations Program at FEARP-USP and at the Postgraduate Program of the Professional Master's Degree in Management of Health Organizations/FMRP-USP. My educational journey began at FMRP-USP, where I completed my medical degree in 2000, followed by a Doctorate in Pathology from USP in 2005. My postdoctoral pursuits led me to Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain, where I specialized in Mindfulness and Mental Health between 2012-2013; and to the University of Technology Sydney's School of Public Health, in Australia, collaborating closely with the Australian Research Consortium in Complementary and Integrative Medicine, where, currently, I am a Visiting Professor. I am board-certified in both Family and Community Medicine, and in Sports and Exercise Medicine. My research collaborations span globally, including institutions like USP, Universities of Zaragoza and Valencia in Spain, Harvard University in the USA, and the University of Oxford in the UK. I am a Senior Fellow at both the International Primary Care Research Leadership Programme at Oxford and the International Complementary Integrative Medicine Research Leadership and Capacity Building Program at ARCCIM since 2012 and 2020, respectively. With extensive experience in Preventive Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, and Primary Health Care (PHC), my work is focused on Mindfulness, Health Promotion, Self-Care, Implementation Science, Mental Health, Lifestyle Medicine, Longevity, PHC, and Health Technology Innovation. I am at the head of Mente Aberta - Brazilian Center for Mindfulness and Health Promotion (https://mindfulness.unifesp.br/) and also lead the Mindfulness Specialization at UNIFESP. An honorary member of the Advisory Board Committees of ACCESS MBCT (https://www.accessmbct.com/), the International Society for Contemplative Research (ISCR) (https://www.contemplativeresearch.org/advisory-council), and The Self-Care Observatory (https://www.self-careobservatory.org/). While my research productivity has been acknowledged by CNPq - Level 1D, my most cherished role is that of a father to three wonderful children.
