Marcelo is the founder and Executive Director of Global Ecosystem Dynamics (GED), an international research initiative focused on advancing the knowledge on economic ecosystems. GED uses Complex System Theory and Complex Network Analysis to study the dynamics of collaboration within the economy around the globe.From date 2018 to September 2022, Marcelo was a Research Affiliate with MIT D-Lab Local Innovation Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was researching economics ecosystems in developing countries and leading the implementation of the participatory innovation ecosystem mapping project. Now, he is continue his work on economic ecosystem as an International Research Collaborator with MIT LIFT Lab.Marcelo has a significant professional expertise in strategy and management, having led the MIT Enterprise Forum in Mexico as Executive Director from its inception in 2014 through significant expansion into six regions of Mexico, engaging more than 8,000 entrepreneurs, innovators, business leaders, scientist and technologists through its programs. Previously, he served as Director of Strategic Planning for Toshiba BS Latin America, among other positions in international corporations. Marcelo is a published author in the fields of business, leadership and strategy. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Business and Social Sciences, a Master Degree in International Business from La Salle Barcelona and Fudan University in Shanghai, and a diploma in Social Anthropology studies from Oxford University.
