I have always been interested in designing and developing solutions that process, store and access high volumes of data.In 2005, while employed by Altech Swisttech, I started with Oracle database maintenance development on the in-house developed solution Datavoir™ which ingested more than 300 million call records a day into a database exceeding 30TB. Subsequently I designed several Oracle databases including one that stored user HTTP call records ingested at 1.8 billion records a day. The table contained zero indexes due to disk limitations and was still able to return daily subscriber data in less than a minute which satisfied the SLA at the time.From Oracle databases I ventured into ETL in 2010 by developing and eventually architecting high-volume data processing solutions in Ab Initio for Vodacom and Saudi Telecoms Corporation.In 2016 my adventure into big data started at CT Lab where I pioneered the transition from a traditional RDBMS to an Apache Cassandra™ big data database for Osprey Pro. I designed Osprey Pro to store data from thousands of IOT devices generating billions of records a day. In 2017 I achieved a Professional Certification on Apache Cassandra at DataStax Academy.My interest in big data extends beyond the storing and querying thereof in Cassandra. In 2018 I obtained my second DataStax Academy qualification which covered DataStax Enterprise Analytics with Apache Spark™, DataStax Enterprise Graph and DataStax Enterprise Search with Apache Solr™. All three technologies leverage the power of Cassandra.
