Current2023: 187.000 visitors, M.C.Escer his 125th birthday https://vimeo.com/9051011852021: Even though the pandemic was very present this year, we managed to organise 3 temporary exhibitions on top of the permanent collection. One of them as inclusive as it can get. But, not for inclusivities sake. We are an inclusive organisation and therefore try not to make the mistake of judging someone by his/her/their cultural heritage but focus on the level of artistry and skills he/she/they achieved.Education wise we spend our time using our knowledge, the diversity of the team, interactivity and 'family learning' trying to perfect the visitor experience. Learning by doing has a much bigger focus than telling a story one way. All in all and interesting year and I applaud for my team for them staying focused and motivated during this still difficult period. 2020: The year that the pandemic hit the world. But, besides managing the consequences of the various lockdowns and keeping the organisation healthy, both team-wise and financially, this year also offered opportunities. During the 3 lockdowns we managed to fully update and re-install the fire alarm system in our iconic listed building. Highlight however was the joint-production, together with The National Theatre, of the crossover theatrical lesson about Escher for secondary school children. Since action speaks louder than words, here is the link to the Dutch spoken video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vig4RAKWNGk 2009 -2019: In 2019 Escher in The Palace welcomed 176.079 visitors through its doors, coming from 74.000 visitors in 2009. A very steady growth through the years while maintaining the high value for money rating. Highlight of 2019: making it possible for blind people and the visually impaired to experience the works of M.C.Escher. A project executed together with students public administration from the The Hague University, pupils from the Technasium (secondary school) ISW and the target group itself.
