As part of the EU efforts to create more world-class clusters across the EU by strengthening cluster excellence, the Commission launched in 2009, under the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI). To continue the successful work of this pan-European initiative which involved 13 partners from nine European countries ESCA - The European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis was established by one of the partners, VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH, to offer practical advice to cluster management organizations. Today, ESCA is a network of cluster experts from 27 countries.In this context ESCA offers services in two areas:ESCA promotes cluster management excellence through benchmarking and quality labelling of clusters and cluster management organizations. The Cluster Competitiveness Foundation is the European entity in charge of organising the Cluster Management Trainings as an outcome of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative.My role is either Assistant Professor, international tutor for field project teams applying the methodology in a real cluster or Project Manager, by organizing the training program and logistics. I've been involved in several programs EU funded as: EUROMED (2013-2014), training and tutoring teams from Tunis, involved on field projects concerning textil, public lighting and urban furniture, to help them to follow the Cluster Competitiveness methodology from ECEI Initiative. CIPCALL13 (2015-2016) I've been working in this program as an assistant professor and international tutor for 3 teams working respectively in 3 different European regions (North West Romania, Murcia, Lombardia), managing field projects to improve the competitiveness of important sectors in those regions: cosmentics, wine and downstream services, respectively.(2016) Clusters of Navarra: I've been project manager for the training held for Cluster managers and Regional development responsible at the end of 2016 in Navarra, funded by SODENA, where several sectors were represented (Automotive, food and agribusiness, renewable energies, tics, creative ind. etc)

Since 1997, in several periods, I've been working with Competitiveness in different economic development programs and strategic plans to reinforce the competitiveness of companies in clusters and value chains, in different industries and countries such as Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Brasil, Mexico, Ecuador,... Industries : design-manufacturing good (shoes, fashion, furniture, etc. Agri-business ( Coffee, Dairy products, tomate, fruits, etc. or services, like different niches of tourism... etc.)Those programs are usually completed with training programs, normally addressed to regional authorities and technical teams, where I am tutor and associated proffesor. I also worked on its marketing and business development department.

I have worked on the definition of strategies in different economic sectors and in different countries (toys, textile-home, footwear, furniture, marble, nougat, natural stone, automotive, fruit and vegetable, clothing, tourism-leisure, cultural tourism, real estate development, graphic arts and publishing, fresh fruit, etc.).In each project I have participated in the strategic analysis, change management activities and feasibility plans necessary for the implementation of the actions defined with the aim of improving the competitiveness of the companies and the territory. The beneficiaries of the programmes are both private companies and governments, which obtain strategic recommendations for their sector-specific support policies and regional economic development, as well as public-private dialogue.
