Urban Teachers is a company dedicated to helping train teachers going into public education. For seven years I worked on the performance and evaluation team overseeing issues of data quality and accuracy. I managed the data collection, storage and access with the goal of answering the question “How are our teachers performing?” In this role I was responsible for data governance and developing policies and procedures for our three locations. I was also in oversaw the data for compliance reporting at the state and national level and assisted our partners (johns Hopkins University) with their compliance reporting.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore is the organization that oversees the Catholic churches and schools in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area. Most of my work was centered on school performance data, but I spent a fair amount of time helping community churches understand their demographic data and making projections into the future. In my nine years with the Archdiocese I coordinated all standardized testing for the school system (consisting of 27,000 students in K-12 schools) including vendor management, test data analysis and recommendations for improvement. I also implemented a survey analysis system for schools and churches with an eye toward process improvement. I used ArcGIS to produce demographic forecasts and to integrate census information with school and church data.

At the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) I was a project manager responsible for overseeing more than two dozen research projects. Several of the projects that I oversaw involved criminal justice automation. For three years I was a voting member of the Criminal Justice information System (CJIS) advisory board which looked into issues around criminal history, background checks and ID verification.
