I bought So Design in 2010, as part of a transition back to Melbourne from South East Asia. I am still a partner in Purple Asia, based out of Vietnam, but loving being back home in Melbourne.

Before starting red | brand builders I bought into Purple Asia with Matt Millard to test the water in Design in Vietnam. Purple Asia is a Regional Creative Agency located in Ho Chi Minh City. Working with Global brands in multiple countries Purple creates brand engagement, at every point on the customer journey.

In 2004/2005 while consulting with Unilever I was offered packaging design work by Unilever as an incentive to start a design studio in Vietnam. I then founded what became red | brand builders and operated the business until it was sold to STW in 2015. I love the marketing discipline of clients like Unilever!

Vietnam

I was invited to return to Vietnam as in-house Marketing Coach for Unilever Vietnam. Also appointed Business Unit Leader for Knorr and the team delivered a relaunch that achieved over 300% growth the following year.

Vietnam

In 2002 JWT was the largest advertising agency in Vietnam - clients - Ford, Pepsi, Unilever... My role was to bring the Agency back to life and focus, and recruit a new MD to take over. Helped launch Mindshare. Helped win the Unilever Vietnam master media contract. JWT won Unilever Vietnam Ad of the Year - Sunsilk.

Worked with Mark Cowan on strategy and planning for his business, including the recommendation to reposition Cowan from advertising agency to design firm. I later proposed a JV with Cowan Design to launch Cowan Asia. Mark and I were incompatible as partners in that venture and he bought my share of the business

I worked on Kellogg brands as an agency partner for about 5 years, mainly on new product launches and retail strategy. In 1998 I was given the opportunity to join the team as Marketing Director, Sales Director and Company Director. I attempted to drive more change than the company was comfortable with and so we parted ways within a year.

Victoria, Australia

Responsible for the marketing of Burger King in 11 countries across Asia Pacific and also working closely with the core Marketing team in Miami. Chairman of the International Marketing Council - sharing best practices, promotions, standards, procedures and production across international markets.

Melbourne, Australia

Chairman of the Safeway Grocery Buying Committee in Australia for three years. The sheer volume of products we tested ( 10,000 + ) helped me build an understanding of how consumers buy that I still rely on. Awarded Victorian and Australian Junior Retail Executive of the Year, by the Australian Retailers Association in 1981.
