About Marc Heisterkamp

Marc Heisterkamp is a Mission-focused CEO | Climate Impact Leader | Strategic Growth Executive at Sustainable Purchasing Leadership Council. He possess expertise in sustainability, green building, sustainable business, leed, sustainable development and 33 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I worked with Marc as a colleague for 5 years as a fellow ED within the Outward Bound USA network of schools and I greatly appreciated working together. Marc is an incredibly thoughtful and strategic leader who collaborated with staff, EDs, board members, donors, staff not only within the Northwest Outward Bound but also across the larger network. This required still, patience and expertise to manage so many different stakeholders. Marc was quick to help me on challenges I faced as an ED and was always willing to go the extra mile to offer support. I valued his advice in tackling challenges. Together we served on a panel to advance Equity and Inclusion at OB including hiring the first Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion at OBUSA and helping to produce an national equity statement." and "I was the board chair at Northwest Outward Bound School when we hired Marc and then worked closely with him for the first 3 years in his role as Executive Director. Marc steered NWOBS through some rough waters both as an Executive Director who entered an organization with a deep rooted culture that was not business oriented (a tricky thing to be successful at) and shortly after needed to navigate the financial, programmatic and emotional health of the School during COVID. He quickly learned what he was up against and with resolve worked to successfully keep the School on track. Marc brought strong leadership to the organization and made large strides in bringing a business acumen into a tough culture to infiltrate. Maybe more importantly he was open to learning and grew his leadership abilities in the process. He and the staff developed a strong strategic direction for the future of the school that will continue to shape it moving forward. Three descriptors: Committed, Resourceful, Learner"
