Full accountability for the design/delivery of 40+ annual national and international specialist healthcare, leadership and management events and webinars attracting 10k+ attendees and 700 speakers, generating an annual turnover of £5m. Held financial management and budgetary responsibility for the events, drove the maximisation of revenues and handled business development to drive the expansion of the global event portfolio.  Led a high performing content and events team, and took control of the entire event management process, delivered continuous operational improvements and forged relationships with key parties including The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), USA and The Netherlands Healthcare Inspectorate. Managed the delivery of a one day annual event in partnership with NHS England, attended by around 350-500 Junior Doctors which focused on delivering safer patient care.  Managed the redesign of the entire events departments including logistics, content and sales & marketing specialists, this eradicated duplicated tasks/roles and increased productivity/motivation. Implemented tiered group discounts and benefits to encourage healthcare organisations to send repeat groups every year, with 49% of paid attendees at the International Forum 2016 part of group booking.

Appointed to lead the establishment of a new independent events department within BMJ Group, including recruitment of staff, embedding of processes and a new website portal and online booking system. Owned the entire event management process including business development, and led multiple continuous improvements, and forged new partner relationships.  Succeeded in expanding BMJ Masterclasses from the initial pilot programme of just six events to over 30 across the UK, and attracted over 6000 delegates.  Successfully grew attendance at International Forum from 459 to 4000 attendees and increased overall net profit. Led the development of the remote participation pilot programme for the International Forum 2009, and rapidly expanded this in 2010 when an Icelandic volcanic eruption affected attendance at the event. Implemented a new policy for use of national and international venues and suppliers on a repeat or core basis, resulted in favourable contractual terms, cost efficiencies and smoother working relationships.
