After tearing my rotator cuff, I spent 3 months attempting to rehab before surgery then spent the remaining time recovering from surgery including attending physical therapy three days per week for 3 hours per day. On the off days, I did home exercises. After having regained about 95% of my range of motion and strength, I turned my attention to the job market.

General Counsel of AIG Benefit Solutions (AIG's $1.4 billion US Group Benefits Division) and its processors as well as a senior leader in the Personal Insurance Product Tower focusing on AIG Benefit Solutions issues with an emphasis on issues that cross product towers, distribution, operations and remediation. The General Counsel of AIG Benefit Solutions position was eliminated due to corporate and legal reorganizations.Shifted the focus of the legal function from a pure cost center to a profit center that creates value creating an opportunity for $8 million of additional revenue plus over $8 million of cost savings under the Affordable Care Act. Created and operated the original Benefit Solutions Risk Management Committee creating a local culture shift to risk based decision-making. Redesigned processes and product to reduce and better manage risk. Settled numerous regulatory inquiries reducing potential fines and costs by millions of dollars and led remediation efforts where necessary.

Progressed through numerous leadership roles to the leader of Prudential Retirement ($60B AUM) and Group Insurance ($3.5B revenues) mini-tax departments (42 tax associates) in 2002.
