At the Scientific Consulting Group (SCG), Marcia is a Senior Health Communication Specialist and works on several public health communication projects for the Federal government. For the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), she co-manages the development and dissemination of content related to diabetes, nutrition, digestive diseases, and liver, kidney, and urologic diseases. She collaborates with SCG and NIDDK staff and assists with preparation of policies and procedures, reports, and other deliverables. Additionally, Marcia serves as a writer of plain language digital content for the general public on such topics as monogenic diabetes, and upper G.I. endoscopy. She also interviewed subject matter experts to develop diabetes blogs. For the Health Resources and Services Administration, Marcia wrote CAREAction newsletter content for Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program grantees and other stakeholder audiences. She also wrote website content on scientific priorities for the Office of AIDS Research.

At American Institutes for Research (AIR), Marcia served as a Senior Communications Specialist, Deputy Project Director, and senior team member. In these roles, she collaborated with AIR Project Directors, staff, and clients to strategically plan and implement tasks for a variety of communication and health education projects, and initiatives for such clients as the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), and the Health Resources and Services Administration. Marcia developed project plans, monitored budgets, and ensured submission of contract deliverables. Additionally, she managed all phases of materials development activities for federal clients including planning, managing budgets, assigning topics to writers, overseeing the development of drafts and final content; collaborating with writers, consultants, editors, designers, web staff; and coordinating with clients and subject matter expert reviewers. She also served as a quality assurance reviewer to ensure the delivery of high-quality products to clients.

Washington D.C. Metro Area

At the Washington Hospital Center, Marcia created, implemented, and managed clinical nutrition programs to deliver high quality nutrition care to patients. She built an effective clinical team and developed collaborative relationships with hospital staff and leader and developed policies and procedures to maintain or enhance patient care. In addition, she supervised and mentored three clinical dietitians. As a registered dietitian, Marcia provided nutrition assessment and education to patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, and other conditions. She also developed educational materials and taught weekly cardiac nutrition classes for patients and their families.
