VNG International is the International Cooperation Agency of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG). VNG International are experts in strengthening democratic local government in developing countries and countries in transition. VNG International designs and manages large and complex projects for donors such as the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the World Bank, the European Commission and bilateral donors.I am part of the regional unit Europe, Asia, and Latin America (EURAL). The projects I work on are primarily based in the Caribbean and Suriname. The themes of these projects include Crisis Management, Waste Management, Community Resilience, Capacity Development & Knowledge Exchange.

The GIZ specializes in international development and mainly operates on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).As part of the BMZ programme "Returning to New Opportunities", the sector project"Programme Migration for Development" supports returnees and the local population inmaking a new start in their country of origin. Through individual support measures suchas vocational counselling, training, job placement, support for business start-ups and(psycho)social counselling, the project supports people in developing new careerprospects locally and thus sustainably improving the living conditions for themselves andtheir families.
