I am a dynamic and versatile educator and retired senior executive with broad executive and counseling/training experience in the Fortune 500, academia, government, and the nonprofit worlds. I am currently both an Advisory Board member and active volunteer consultant at PennPAC, a nonprofit organization with offices in NYC, Philadelphia, and the Bay Area. At PennPAC, University of Pennsylvania alumni volunteer in pro-bono consulting teams to assist small and impecunious nonprofits with a wide variety of their strategic, financial or other challenges. PennPAC is recognized by the University of Pennsylvania as a " special interest" alumni group, but it does not receive any funding from the university. My career history in a nutshell : I am a lapsed academic who started my career as a Ph.D. teaching English at Hunter College in NYC. Next, as an Assistant Dean at New York University's Graduate School of Public Administration , my critically praised book, "Put Your Degree to Work" (W.W. Norton, 1979) was an outgrowth of my work helping graduate students find jobs. It was inspiring work to help the students at a dire time for employment in NYC. Later, in the 1980's in my business career, I taught senior and middle level managers at Mobil Oil Corporation a wide variety of communication and career management courses. Still later, at Drake Beam Morin, the world's largest outplacement firm at that time, I was a Group Vice-President in charge of the Career and Change Management Practice Area. In addition to designing new services and products for DBM's Fortune 50 clients, I developed and managed important strategic alliances for the firm with such luminaries as Professor Edgar Schein of MIT and Lominger Associates . I was a delighted guest of General Motors for a rare live seminar with the quality consultant W. E. Deming. I retired from DBM in 1997 and opened up a small consulting firm, Fox Management Consulting. I had wonderful governmental clients but closed the firm pre-Covid. I also had several interesting speaking engagements and consulting assignments in China during that period.
