I manage all the social media for Inclusion Matters by Shane's Inspiration, outreach via mail and email., and oversee the Los Angeles chapter of My PlayClub, our community outreach program that brings children of all abilities together at our inclusive playgrounds for a play date. I started with "Shane's Inspiration" as a volunteer in June of 1999 and became the first employee hired. Working with Inclusion Matters by Shane's Inspiration allows me to combine all the skills I learned from acting, directing, stage management, children's theatre, bookkeeping, writing, development, communications, and event planning into one awesome job! We are a small, but mighty staff who are close-knit and have made an incredible impact on the world through inclusive play. I watched every reality talk show on the air at the time and read newspapers and magazines from all over the country. Norton Wright wrote and developed story pitches for the VP of Movies. Working for the legend, Bob Banner was incredible. This was my first job when I moved to Los Angeles from Missouri. I started as a temp receptionist and was immediately hired. So, I'm very good on the phones and handling lots of executives and talent. As the assistant to the prolific awards show writer, Stephen Pouliot, I fielded calls, typed and re-typed scripts, scheduled meetings and lunches, and managed communication for Stephen. I was promoted to assisting the VP of Movies, Norton Wright and moved with him to CBS when Bob Banner retired. To this day, I as still in touch with most of the talented people that I worked with at BBA. Bob was a caring, talented man who was my first foray into the entertainment business. He set a high bar. My first job out of graduate school was as the Education Director for the historic Landers Theater, aka Springfield Little Theatre - a beautiful 600-seat theatre renovated shortly before my arrival. In my position as the Education Director, I oversaw the education program at this community theatre. We offered classes for all ages in theater, dance, singing, and improvisation. In my position as the Education Director, I oversaw the education program at this community theatre. We offered classes for all ages in theater, dance, singing, and improvisation. Personally, I taught the acting and improv classes for both children and adults. I also directed "YesTroupe", a troop of young actors who were 12-18 years old who travelled to schools in southwest Missouri to bring theatre to those who had never seen it! This program was only in its first year when I came on board and we grew it during my two years there. Two of the members of the troop were a part of my wedding, so as you can guess, I was very close with these talented young people. Also, part of my position was to help with the box office. I fielded calls to make reservations and purchase tickets over the phone, manned the box office during the day and during performances, helped handle VIPs and talent. I also helped with our direct mail campaigns and handled the bulk mailings each season. I helped coordinate volunteers to assemble, bundle and properly label the bulk mailings... not an easy job back then. During my time there, I was blessed to be cast in several great roles in many productions there. Before I was hired, I met my husband while performing in "Dracula" on the SLT stage, so I'm especially fond of my time spent at the Landers. As a graduate student, I worked with Professor Sharon Ellis to create YouthTroup, a group of college actors who brought live theatre to schools throughout Southwest Missouri. Responsibilities included outreach and scheduling performances for elementary schools, coordinating actors' schedules and performing in the shows for two years.
