My journey with Essex Garden Foods began in Chelmsford five years ago when my passion for great food gave birth to the company which then began trading in December 2017. From my background as a landscape architect, I took inspiration from the Essex countryside to design the brand, and from the Essex tradition of gardening for the ingredients, leading to the creation of a ‘Proper Classic’ collection of speciality mayonnaise that is packed with vegetables and unique flavour while also being low in sugar and made from high quality ingredients.My mayos are available in many shops now and my goal is to expand even further. I have started working with selected wholesalers and online stores, such as Amazon and BoroughBox, which deliver my products nationwide, but my aim is to begin exporting to other countries. I am passionate about my products and am constantly looking for ways to improve every aspect of them. Recently, the recipes and branding have undergone a major redevelopment in terms of quality, texture and flavour; and now, our mayos are:- Low sugar products. After extensive testing, we have removed sugar and artificial sweeteners and replaced them with zero calorie, plant-based Stevia across the Proper Classic range- Suitable for vegetarians- Gluten free- Lactose (dairy) free- GMO free- Nut free- Soya free- Artificial preservatives free In addition to the original glass jars for retail, and large catering tubs, we offer plastic, tamper-proof minipods as well. These would be ideal for the travel and leisure sector such as airlines, trains, ferries and hotels, but also meal box companies, restaurants, and cafes.I also plan to expand my brand in the near future by launching new and exciting condiments to satisfy the palates of even the fussiest consumers.Essex Garden Foods is a member of ‘A Taste of Anglia’, the organisation that supports and promotes the food and drink industry across the country. The company also has been supported by the Essex Innovation Programme and Nwes, not-for-profit enterprise agency, that provide total business support and help businesses get off the ground.
