Although a short posting before moving to Denmark, I was able to gain a great deal of experience with the Super Retail Group. Being a member of the bar code and packaging team allowed close collaboration with logistics, procurement and quality assurance in an international retail environment.It was necessary that I communicate effectively, concisely and professionally both internally and externally to convey specific technical information. My computing knowledge was also fundamental when navigating databases (SAP), logging out of specification (OOS) units and handleling large amounts of trade partner data (Excel).

At Candan industries I was able to further develop my leadership skills by managing three full time employees to produce a range of industrial lubricants both interstate and internationally. I was not only in charge of company wide materials procurement but drew on my experience to implement a quality control framework required to achieve certification for market leading food grade, mining and automotive lubricants.Being a small team it was also required that I take charge of promoting the OH&S culture, stock control and helping out with packaging and distribution when ever possible. I was also able to use my advance computer skills and some creativity to upgrade the website and produce editorials and brochures.

Revelstoke

While living in Canada in the lovely snow town of Revelstoke I worked as a Night Auditor for The Powder Springs Inn. I was required to process the daily income from the hotel and bar as well as banking requirements and security. I also helped out when needed at the front desk and in the bar.

Hydrexia is still at the forefront of hydrogen storage technology in magnesium alloys. It was an amazing experience seeing this company grow from a small research team at the University of Queensland to a thriving start-up drawing international interest.I took on many rolls such as management of the hydrogen experimentation laboratory and test program as well as production and development of the storage alloy. My skills were also needed when the team required help commissioning prototype storage systems and implementing the health and safety environment. My favorite experience while at Hydrexia was getting the opportunity to work at the Australian Synchrotron in Melbourne. Several excursions allowed a small team to characterize our material using the most sophisticated X-ray source in Australia and gain unparallelled insights. This kind of development requires one to be very flexible and creative when working to strict investor timeline and budget. The reward was the creation of cutting edge technology that can help pave the way for a sustainable power storage.

My First Science job out of university was as a QC chemist for CleanTec. Working as a QC in a fast paced industrial production plant was a great way to perfect the wet chemistry skills I had learned at university and gain experience with industry standards such as GMP and NATA.I was also intrusted with conducting all the elemental analysis on AAS resulting in opportunities for more business.
