Marc is the Managing Partner and chair of the Executive Committee at Phillips Nizer LLP.

Marc Landis maintains a diverse real estate and corporate transactional practice focused on the acquisition, development and preservation of affordable housing, commercial leasing matters, the representation of lenders and borrowers in real estate financing transactions, loan workouts and foreclosures, architectural and construction agreements, and the representation of cooperative corporations and condominium associations. His practice also includes the acquisition and sale of residential and other real estate properties, providing ongoing general corporate and estate planning advice to individuals and closely-held businesses, guardianship matters, and Cuban travel-related transaction licensing and compliance. Mr. Landis is the firm's official member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and chairs the firm's Israel Practice Group.Marc is the past chairperson of the NYC chapter of Citizen Action of New York, a grass-roots community-based organization involved in efforts to improve health care, provide quality education and reform the campaign finance system, and is also an elected Democratic Party district leader on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He formerly served as an officer and member of Community Board 7 in Manhattan, and as a chief of staff and counsel to a member of the New York State Legislature. In 2007 and 2008, Mr. Landis was honored by Manhattan Legal Services and Legal Services of New York for his pro bono assistance to limited-income tenants who were facing eviction from two women’s residences in Manhattan. Previously, he was honored by the New York State Bar Association with the President’s Pro Bono Service Award for his dedication as an attorney-activist on behalf of community-based health, education and social services organizations. Executive BoardThe URJ is governed by a North American board of trustees of up to 150 members that works in close partnership with the URJ Chair, the URJ President, the Senior Leadership Team and other members of the professional staff. The board is comprised of lay leaders who belong to URJ congregations across the U.S. and Canada as well as representatives of the HUC-JIR, CCAR, and several affiliate organizations.

Over 150 leaders from 35 congregations helped select Driver’s Licenses for All or #GreenLightNY as our first issue.We advocate in Albany and around the state for public policy that embodies the principles of the Reform Jewish Movement, educate synagogue members about the critical issues facing our state and help congregations and individuals take an active role as advocates, both locally and in Albany.
