I am a recent (non-traditional) Graduate of University of Colorado-Denver (UCD). My B.A. from the school of Liberal Arts and Sciences is in Sociology with an emphasis in Digital Design. I am proficient with the Adobe CS6 suite and I have completed courses in the following: Social Theory, Social Inequalities, Social Problems, Race and Ethnicity, African American Family, Ethics, Quantitative Research, Qualitative Research, Sociology of Human Sexuality, Sociology of The Family, Alcohol-Drugs-Society, Social Psychology, and Sociology of Music. In addition, I earned a "in-major" Certificate specializing in Family and Social Welfare. My Internship was at Karlis Family Tree and I Supervised-court ordered family visits.Prior to my time at UCD I attended Arapahoe Community College (ACC) where I majored in Graphic Design and minored in Marketing and gained an A.A. in applied science. During my time at ACC I maintained a Work-Study post as an Administrative Assistant in the schools writing center.Prior to returning to education, I worked in the airline industry for 16 years. I mastered positions such as, Customer Service (CS), CS Trainer, Ramp Service, Cabin Service, Flight Operations, and as a Flight Attendant. My final position as a CS Manager left me fulfilled in what I thought was going to be where I'd spend the rest of my career. Unfortunately, the tragic Nine-Eleven events eliminated my position with the inability to laterally move into another capacity. Devastated, I decided to leave the airline industry and shifted towards another career. Finally, with all the above said, my passion is advocating for families in need. I gained a certificate in this area but so far have only worked with adults with disabilities. I have learned so much but families is where I want to make a difference in the social world.
Listed skills include Training, Marketing, Management, Teaching, and 3 others.
