Responsibilities:• Coordination of all exploration studies focused to the understanding of basins, petroleum systems, plays and prospects• Assurance of technical and economical integrity for the evaluations of petroleum potential and prospective resources• Management of exploration portfolio to accomplish strategic goals• Alignment between the exploration strategy, portfolio gaps and new business opportunities• Colaborate in the management of G&G information, knowledge, suites of digital tools for exploration and exploration best practices• Proposal and authorization of geophysical solutions• Participate in the implementation of the strategy of new business and management of JV´s in the exploration phase.• Facilitate operation of knowledge communities and discipline authorities• Relationship with regulators, Approval of Exploration plans and extension of In this position, I am accountable for the correct development of exploration studies, supervise every single prospect that Pemex is moving to the status “ready to drill”.Pemex has a solid exploration process that allows the exploration team to come out with strong technical evaluation for both the recoverable volume and the geological risk assessment involving the elements and processes of the petroleum system: Trap, reservoir rock, seal, source rock as well as migration and preservation of hydrocarbons.

Responsibilities included:• Identification, evaluations and ranking of new business opportunities aligned with Pemex portfolio• Proposal of New Business to top management• Assurance of due processes with regulators, partners and internal committees for joint or single participation in bidding rounds• Coordination of Pemex personnel in the different Opcoms and subcomitttes for the different JV´s in which Pemex is participating (15 so far)• Integration and registration of all technical, legal and financial information of JV´s• Negotiation of different agreements with partnersI coordinated several teams in order to allow Pemex to participate in the Mexican rounds ran between 2015 and 2018, this included participation with the internal technical team as well with others, such as finance, development facilities, legal, as well as presenting the business cases to the different committees including Pemex´s board. Pemex participated in four bids (1.4, 2.1, 2.4 and 3,1) where we managed to win 14 blocks, 11 with partners and 3 Pemex by itself. Three out of 14 are in the Perdido area where salt tectonics dominate the functioning of the petroleum system, on the other hand, this unit manages the JV result of the first ever farmout in Pemex (Trion, Perdido deepwter)This was an extraordinary opportunity to benchmark our prospect evaluating methodology with different partners: Majors, NOC´s an IOC´s, which gave us great confidence that Pemex evaluates prospects according with the international practices.

As a result of the Mexican constitutional energy Reform, Pemex was asked by law to indicate those areas it would like to keep for explorations activities. Pemex appointed me to coordinate all internal efforts in Exploration to document this request, this was done considering the exploration strategy and the technical, operational, technological and financial capacities of Pemex.This was a huge task to document 165 blocks with all the required information within the time the span that the law allowed: 90 days. This was accomplished with the effort of more than 40 specialists working in the different exploration offices.

Main achievements:• Hydrocarbon findings of more than 7 TCF of gas and 250 mmbo related to more than 10 discoveries in deepwater• More than 20 wells drilled, success rate above 50%• More than 40 prospects moved to the status “ready to drill”• Postmortem evaluation allowed calibration of geological models in this frontier areas.• Star-up of a devoted team for derisking prospects using quantitative seismic studies.• Successful use of Controlled Source Electromagnetics in Tertiary sedimentsIn this project we conducted exploratory studies in different geological provinces: Mexican Ridges, Catemaco fold belt, Salina del Istmo in its deepwater setting as well the Nox-Hux folded -belt.

After coming back from graduate school I was assigned to this new position where I was now responsible of the whole process of prospect generation for the Tertiary plays in Veracruz, during this time we were able to establish the seismic stratigraphic framework, the use of post-stack seismic attributes, we generated more than one hundred prospects, Pemex drilled more than 90% of them, with a commercial success rate slightly over 50%. This level of activity allowed the Veracruz tertiary basin from 30 to more than 1,200 millions of cubic feet of gas a day. Later in 2009 we found the first oil reservoir in Neogene sediments in the basin.

Here I participated in a multidisciplinary team located in a single facility where all the specialists where at the ready in order to solve quickly any matter that may arise. Mi activities here were matching well to seismic through synthetic seismograms, building velocity models for depth conversion, presenting structural model of the different targets at work and using seismic attributes to support sedimentary models in turbidite system.From 2001 to 2003 I attended graduate school where I earned a Ms degree for the University of Colorado.

As a new entrée in Pemex I was assigned to seismic crews both onshore and offshore, Ispent one year working in the QC of the shots and interacting with interpreters in order to assure due quality of data
