Driving a diverse group of freshmen students to the exploration of Space, form the body to the galaxy. Experimenting with different materials and techniques in search of our personal space-navigation tools. Teaching at VCU in Doha allows me to explore the middle east culture form a privileged point of view and test, in a different part of Asia, the flexibility of MOTOElastico design.

As far as today, the Best Italian Architecture Office in both Koreas [we are the only one].MOTOElastico [Simone Carena | Marco Bruno] is an experimental space-lab working on architecture, interior and art projects; the goal is to challenge local cultures through unexpected combinations of original ingredients. Its design process is similar to the one used by Dub DJs: enhancing rhythms and underlining features of existing songs, with the purpose of generating new yet familiar design tunes. MOTOElastico in the past ten years has completed buildings [the Dub Hanok renovation received the 2010 AIDIA Best Design Award], private and commercial interiors projects [Louis Quatorze, Duemio, Ratia and FUBU Flagship Stores] and art installations. In 2011 was invited to participate in the 54th Art Biennale in Venice where MOTOElastico presented Tank Bang, a movable bang [bang=room in Korean] made of altered anti-riot police shields in a roman testudo formation.MOTOElastico currently provides design services for ARCHITECTURE [residential / commercial / industrial buildings] and INTERIORS [residential / office / commercial]. We also develop ART projects and SPACE INSTALLATIONS, freely combining objects, houses and people in pursue of a new eurasian species.MOTOElastico projects were featured in architecture and design magazines all over the world, among which Italy, Korea, United States, Germany, England, China, India, Singapore. The book Borrowed City, a pilot research using Korean public space as a case study, will be released by DAMDI in Seoul in July 2013.

Teaching Design Studio, Furniture, Ideation and Skill Challenges.Working together with ambitious HYID students in a atelier style environment. All classes are designed to encouraged students to take risks and come up with their own personal design solutions. No text books are provided: the higher the amount of mistakes in the process, the better the final results.

Teaching Design Studio, Furniture and Basic Design Foundations.In charge of International Relationships I organized workshops with several University and Companies, among which RMIT [Australia], Politecnico Di Torino [Italy] and Arneg Refrigerators [Italy]

Teaching Interior Environmental Design I+IITaking advantage of a multicultural group of people [students from Korea, China, USA, Sweden, Austria, Australia and Japan] and training students to apply a creative transformation process to elements derived from their everyday environment. Ready made and stop motion projects were very successful.

Working together with Simone Carena and Chang Hyosun to develop the Korean branch of the Torino office: the office eventually turned out to be the spark that generated MOTOElastico.
