    I worked on the modelling of the steady behavior of electrostrictive materials housed in a capacitor. Our material was a composite material: carbon conductive nano-tubes embedded in a polymeric dielectric matrix. Housed in a capacitor, this material shows a strongly variable capacity when subjected to vibration and they are able to generate potential differences. Because of the large difference in geometrical characteristic scales, multi-scale mathematical and numerical models have been developed, reducing nano-tubes to dipoles and introducing a hierarchical discretization of the computational domain. The relative numerical code has been developed for parallel distribute memory architectures and it has shown good qualitative agreement with laboratory experiment.
