As a student assistant, I supervised first-year students of the study Applied Biology with the identification of invertebrates as part of the course PECS (Ecology and Species Identification). During this course, students learn to handle identification keys and microscopes and they learn about the many insect families and how to recognize them.

In de periode februari tot juni heb ik stage gelopen op de afdeling Beleid, Infrastructuur en Milieu van de gemeente Ede. Hier werkte ik mee aan alledaagse werkzaamheden binnen de ecologie-afdeling. Daarnaast werkte ik aan een afstudeerwerkstuk, dit betreft een adviesrapportage over maatregelen om insectenpopulaties in de gemeente Ede te behouden en vergroten.

Costa Rica

During my study Applied biology, I did an internship at the research station of COTERC, which is located in the Tortuguero area in Costa Rica.• Participated in the ongoing research on sea turtles, great green macaws, mammals, snakes, neotropical otters and spectacled caimans.• Participated in the environmental education sessions in the local community.• For two ongoing studies (great green macaw and mammal research) I was responsible for preparing new interns and volunteers before their first surveys. This was done through a powerpoint presentation. • In addition, there were many tasks to keep the research station clean and tidy.
