Als Project Manager R&D bij Soilwise ben ik verantwoordelijk voor het testen en ontwikkelen van nieuwe producten in de biologische bestrijding van bodemziektes (Bodem Resetten) en invasieve plantensoorten, vooral de Japanse, Sachalinse en Bastaardduizendknoop (Roots Reset). As Project Manager R&D at Soilwise I am responsible for testing and developing new products for the biological control of soil pathogens (Soil Resetting) and invasive plant species (RootsReset).

As Research Assistant Seed Health I was responsible for developing and validating new (q-RT)PCRs on a range of plant pathogens, especially plant viruses, as well as assisting where needed in different projects

As shift leader I was still mostly performing the usual analyst tasks, but was also responsible for making decisions on sample priority, solving various issues with machines and samples, and the final authorization that sent test results to the GGD (Dutch health services). In addition to this, I also acted as a link between the scientists and the routine lab by attending weekly meetings

Als analist in de SARS-CoV-2 diagnostiek was ik verantwoordelijk voor de RNA-extracties van de afgenomen swabs en voor het uitvoeren van de bijbehorende qRT-PCRs, als ook voor het verwerken van de verzamelde data in LIMS en UnityAs an analyst in SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics, I was responsible for the RNA extractions of the collected swabs, and executing the corresponding qRT-PCRs, as well as processing the collected data in LIMS and Unity

In Turijn heb ik het gebruik van exogene dsRNAs als inducer van RNAi tegen TSWV-infectie in paprika en tabak onderzocht. Ik heb hier veel ervaring opgedaan met in vivo en in vitro synthese van (dubbelstrengs) RNA, inoculatie van planten met het betreffende virus, en met detectie van virale infectie door RNA te extraheren en te analyseren d.m.v. (RT-)PCR na reverse transcriptie. Worked on the use of exogenous dsRNAs to induce RNAi against TSWV infection in pepper and tobacco. Notable skills that I obtained here were in vivo and in vitro synthesis of dsRNAs, viral inoculation, and detection of virus infection by extracting RNA from leaf material and performing (RT-)PCRs after reverse transcription.

Ik heb gedurende mijn MSc-thesis gewerkt aan het in kaart brengen van de cap-snatching mogelijkheden van het N-eiwit van virussen van de orde van Bunyavirales. Ik heb dit gedaan door in vitro RNAs te synthetiseren en in getransformeerde E.coli de N-eiwitten te produceren, om er vervolgens EMSAs (Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assays) mee uit te voeren. During my MSc-thesis I worked on a project with the aim to elucidate the cap-snatching capabilities of the N-protein of several viruses belonging to the order of Bunyavirales. I did this by synthesizing RNAs in vitro, and producing the N-proteins in transformed E.coli, with which I could perform EMSAs (Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assays).

Assisteren met het geven en organiseren van practica voor het vak "Fundamental and Applied Virology". In dit vak werden verschillende labtechnieken onderwezen waaronder DNA & RNA gelelektroforese, microscopie, Northern & Western Blots, en DNA- en RNA extractie uit plantmateriaal.Assisting with teaching and organizing practicals for the course "Fundamental and Applied Virology".In this course, various lab techniques were taught, such as DNA & RNA gel electrophoresis, microscopy, Northern & Western Blots, and DNA and RNA extraction from plant material.
